The cut area is 11" × 19.5", and that half-inch of margin all round is the point: the laser edge is the finished edge of whatever you cut out, so you want to be cutting inside the sheet rather than up against its edge. Glowforge sizes its own sheets the same way. What it will not sell you is 60+ colours.

Want every edge of the finished part to be a laser edge? Order about half an inch over on each side and cut inside the sheet — we cut any size, so type whatever you want.

Running this machine
- It is a CO2 laser, so every color in the range is fair game — clear and transparent fluorescents included.
- 1/8" is the everyday choice and cuts in a single pass on most Basic and Plus settings; 1/4" needs a slower pass and is worth ordering only where you need the rigidity.
- The Pro's passthrough slot takes longer stock, but the cut area is still 11" wide — order 11" on the short side and as much length as your job needs.
Never put these in a laser
PVC, vinyl and Sintra release chlorine gas when lasered — it is toxic to you and corrodes the machine from the inside. Polycarbonate (Lexan) discolors, cuts badly and can catch fire. Acrylic is the material these machines are built around. More on choosing laser stock.
