In a laser: a CO2 machine cuts this cleanly and leaves a flame-polished edge, though at 1/2" expect slow, multiple passes and plan for a wider kerf. A diode laser will not cut it at any setting — the beam passes straight through transparent acrylic.
1/2" red (colour 2423) runs $27.40 per square foot at this thickness and weighs about 3.12 lb per square foot, so a 24″ × 48″ piece comes to roughly 25 lb — worth knowing before you size a panel someone has to lift or ship.

Red 2423 is a transparent, see-through red — tinted like red glass, so light and color pass straight through. It's the pick for lenses, taillight-style effects, layered acrylic art, and decorative glazing where you want to see through the color. Our one clear red; the rest of our reds are translucent or opaque.
