1/8" white matte in practice
Opaque stock blocks light entirely, so at 1/8" the decision is structural and visual rather than optical — you are choosing how solid the piece needs to feel and look.
This is the lightest thickness that still holds itself flat in a frame, which is why it is the default for signage faces and glazing where something else carries the load.
In a laser: pigment absorbs the beam, so this cuts on a CO2 machine and on a diode, and at this thickness a diode will usually manage it in a pass or two.
The matte face hides fingerprints and cuts glare, and it will not polish back to gloss if scratched — keep the masking on until the piece is installed.
1/8" white matte (color 7328M) starts at $5.65 for a 12″ × 12″ piece at this thickness, and weighs about 0.78 lb per square foot, so a 24″ × 48″ piece comes to roughly 6.2 lb — worth knowing before you size a panel someone has to lift or ship.
Why 1/8" white matte acrylic?
The thinnest acrylic we stock, and the most economical. At 1/8″ it stays light and easy to handle, which makes it a go-to for signage, glazing, picture-frame glass, and point-of-purchase displays. It has some flex in larger panels, so it's best where it's framed or supported rather than free-standing.
About White Matte acrylic
White Matte 7328 is an opaque white with one frosted, matte face — the same solid white as our glossy 7328, with the shine taken off one side. It blocks light completely, so use it where you want a glare-free, fingerprint-resistant finished surface: sign faces, shelving, and display backdrops; for a matte white that glows from behind, choose one of our translucent white mattes. Slight shade differences between white lots are normal; request a chip if you're matching an existing panel.
