1/4" green in practice
Opaque stock blocks light entirely, so at 1/4" the decision is structural and visual rather than optical — you are choosing how solid the piece needs to feel and look.
This is the first thickness that stands up on its own: rigid enough for free-standing pieces, risers and structural parts rather than only framed panels.
In a laser: pigment absorbs the beam, so this cuts on a CO2 machine and on a diode, though a diode will need several passes at this thickness.
1/4" green (color 2108) starts at $9.56 for a 12″ × 12″ piece at this thickness, and weighs about 1.56 lb per square foot, so a 24″ × 48″ piece comes to roughly 12.5 lb — worth knowing before you size a panel someone has to lift or ship.
Why 1/4" green acrylic?
The all-purpose workhorse and our most popular thickness. At 1/4″, acrylic is rigid enough to stand on its own in most sizes, which is why it's the default for tabletops, shelving, risers, desk shields, and protective barriers. If you're unsure which thickness to choose, this is usually the right starting point.
About Green acrylic
Green 2108 is a solid, opaque green — a finished, glossy surface that blocks light completely and holds its color lit or unlit. A fit for sign faces, fixtures, and craft work that wants a flat, even green rather than a glow. Among our greens, reference the 2108 code when matching an existing panel.
