1/8" blue in practice
Transparent stock at 1/8" reads as a clean pane — you see the object behind it, not the material.
This is the lightest gauge that still holds itself flat in a frame, which is why it is the default for signage faces and glazing where something else carries the load.
In a laser: a CO2 machine cuts this cleanly and leaves a flame-polished edge. A diode laser will not cut it at any setting — the beam passes straight through transparent acrylic.
1/8" blue (colour 2424) runs $6.57 per square foot at this gauge and weighs about 0.78 lb per square foot, so a 24″ × 48″ piece comes to roughly 6.2 lb — worth knowing before you size a panel someone has to lift or ship.
Why 1/8" blue acrylic?
The thinnest acrylic we stock, and the most economical. At 1/8″ it stays light and easy to handle, which makes it a go-to for signage, glazing, picture-frame glass, and point-of-purchase displays. It has some flex in larger panels, so it's best where it's framed or supported rather than free-standing.
About Blue acrylic
Blue 2424 is a transparent, see-through blue — tinted glass-like clarity in a cooler tone. Good for lenses, decorative glazing, and layered acrylic art where light and color read together. Our other see-through blue is 2069; the translucent blues (2050, 2051, 2114, 2329, 2648) glow rather than show through.
