1/8" purple in practice
Transparent stock at 1/8" reads as a clean pane — you see the object behind it, not the material.
This is the lightest thickness that still holds itself flat in a frame, which is why it is the default for signage faces and glazing where something else carries the load.
In a laser: a CO2 machine cuts this cleanly and leaves a flame-polished edge. A diode laser will not cut it at any setting — the beam passes straight through transparent acrylic.
1/8" purple (color 373) starts at $4.96 for a 12″ × 12″ piece at this thickness, and weighs about 0.78 lb per square foot, so a 24″ × 48″ piece comes to roughly 6.2 lb — worth knowing before you size a panel someone has to lift or ship.
Why 1/8" purple acrylic?
The thinnest acrylic we stock, and the most economical. At 1/8″ it stays light and easy to handle, which makes it a go-to for signage, glazing, picture-frame glass, and point-of-purchase displays. It has some flex in larger panels, so it's best where it's framed or supported rather than free-standing.
About Purple acrylic
Purple 373 — chip engraved HH-373, and also listed as violet — is a lighter, more see-through purple than our Violet 2287, letting more light and color pass through. It's a fit for decorative glazing, signage, and layered acrylic art. Quote 373 or HH-373 when matching this specific shade, whether your spec calls it purple or violet.
