1/4" gray in practice
Transparent stock at 1/4" reads as a piece with visible depth, where the edge colour and the thickness itself become part of the look.
This is the first gauge that stands up on its own: rigid enough for free-standing pieces, risers and structural parts rather than only framed panels.
In a laser: a CO2 machine cuts this cleanly and leaves a flame-polished edge. A diode laser will not cut it at any setting — the beam passes straight through transparent acrylic.
1/4" gray (colour 2514) runs $11.29 per square foot at this gauge and weighs about 1.56 lb per square foot, so a 24″ × 48″ piece comes to roughly 12.5 lb — worth knowing before you size a panel someone has to lift or ship.
Why 1/4" gray acrylic?
The all-purpose workhorse and our most popular thickness. At 1/4″, acrylic is rigid enough to stand on its own in most sizes, which is why it's the default for tabletops, shelving, risers, desk shields, and protective barriers. If you're unsure which thickness to choose, this is usually the right starting point.
About Gray acrylic
Gray 2514 is a see-through smoked gray in our range, adding neutral tint and glare reduction while keeping visibility. Common for partitions, equipment covers, and contemporary panel work. Distinct from our opaque grays (3001, 504), which block light entirely.
Made to order. Not every color and thickness is stocked at all times — if yours is temporarily out, we make or source it and ship as soon as it's back in stock. On a deadline? Email us before you order and we'll confirm your expected ship date.
